Mojito Monday

Nothing goes together like a summer evening and a homemade mojito. And though it's not summer yet (and it barely feels like spring), I'm focusing on warmer days. Mojitos are the one mixed drink I can make with any confidence, which means I make them all the time. Pro tip: they're even better with pureed strawberry, mango, or watermelon.

A February Resolution

I think I would benefit from a tattoo that says this. I have a bad habit of eating to capacity
which is just so unnecessary! I also need to eat more veggies.

L'etoile Du Nord // The Star of The North

It delights me that the Minnesota state motto is in French. So I made this.
We really are the star of the North—since 1858.

农历新年

I made this. Admittedly, it's a couple weeks late. Chinese New Year was on Feb. 10.

A Better Sweater

This is a craft project I recently actually completed. I used a merlot wool sweater that I've had forever and definitely should have retired several years ago. The longest part of the process was cutting the sweater into 3" long "leaves." I used foam core for the wreath base (it looks round, but it's actually flat!) and then hot glued the feathers on so that they overlapped each other evenly. And I did it all while watching Robert Altman's 1994 satirical look at fashion, Prêt-à-PorterA must-see for every fashion enthusiast or anyone who's really into the 90s.

Gig Poster

I'm loving The Shins' new album, Port of Morrow, so I made this little
poster for the one time I saw them in concert.

I made this: Project Tortuga

I got crafty recently in order to make the perfect wedding gift for two wonderful people, Aaron and Nora. Words on banners aren't special, but ones that say 'Isle of Tortuga' in silver glitter are.

Update: Nora told me this was the most thoughtful gift they received. That makes me feel awesome.

American Jobs Act

This is my submission to the Obama For America poster contest to support the Jobs Act.
Alex served as my art director, because he's smart like that.

craftsman brewery

Here is the blog debut of some of my design work! For this project I created a company,
Craftsman Brewery, and branded it from top to bottom. The design aesthetic is based on the arts and crafts movement of the early 1900s. I really enjoyed this project (especially the letterpress coasters!)
and I'm super happy with how it turned out!

letterpress//project one

I recently spent some time in a friend's letterpress studio working on some more prints for my Etsy shop. They turned out perfectly and there's nothing quite like working on a press and making stuff with your hands!
